So Here it is, The list of the Best Ganesh Pandals of Mumbai:
1- Khetwadicha Ganaraj (12th Khetwadi):
This Ganpati Mandal is famous for its Decoration and Idol, This Pandal wins many awards from different organizations every year. The Ganpati Idol has also won several awards like Times Utsav Murti Sanman. Idol is decorated with artificial diamonds and Pandal here is fully air conditioned for all 10 days. Celebrities like Katrina Kaif have visited this pandal too.
2- Tulsiwadi Cha Raja (Tardeo):
This Pandal is famous for the tall Ganesha Idol and a very unique one. Mandal here has many programmes for all 10 days like Fancy dress competition for kids, Essay writing, Food shows, Poojas, etc. The idol is very huge and beautifully made and a must visit.
3- Chandanwadi Cha Raja (Marine Lines)
The most awaited Ganesha Idol of Mumbai. People from the area wait since months to welcome the huge Idol of Ganesha. The Idol here is huge and beautifully made. There is also a small show, commonly known as Chalachitra presented to the devotees who come for darshan here. The idol every year has some uniqueness and that makes people anxious to have that first glance of the Idol.
4- Chinchpokhli Cha Chintamani (Chinchpokhli):
The arrival of the Idol of this Ganpati is most waited in city. From Parel To Chinchpokhli the roads are full of Dhols and Taashas. The Ganapati Idol of this Pandal is just elegant and Celebrities like Shilpa Shetty visit this Mandal almost every year. They have various functions throughout 10 days and devotees take part in it religiously. The Ganesha here was given the title of “Mumbaicha Raja” in the year 2011.
5- GSB Seva Mandal (King Circle):
Goud Saraswat Brahman Seva Mandal, commonly known as GSB Seva Mandal is one of the richest Ganapati Pandal in Mumbai. The Management here is just amazing. The Ganesha of this Pandal is Eco-Friendly made up of Clay also known as Shadu Mitti. The Ganapati Festival here is for 5 days only and throughout the 5 days there are continuous Poojas, Hawans & Homas going on in the Pandals. They also serve traditional south indian food to all the devotees who visit the pandal. Crowd Management here is just perfect. The Idol here is famous for the number of gold and silver jewellery that is offered to Lord Ganesha in the 5 days of Ganesh Chaturthi.
6- Lalbaugh Cha Raja (Lalbaugh):
Who doesn’t know this Pandal. After all its the most famous Pandal all over the world and not just mumbai. Devotees from different cities and villages come here for darshan. This is the most visited Ganesh Pandal of Mumbai. Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Salman Khan and many others visit and pray here to Lord Ganesha. It is a belief that Ganesha here fulfill all the wishes of all the devotees and so they come here every year to pray to their favourite God, Lord Ganesha. Devotees stand in long queues for 12-14 hours just to touch the feet of Ganapati here. The Visarjan Procession of Lalbaughcha Raja takes a one whole day. The mandal is said to be one of the richest mandals of Mumbai and they also do various charities like Free Dialysis to Kidney Patients, Giving Educational Funds to needy, etc.
7- Mumbai Cha Raja, Lalbaug Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal (Ganesh Galli):
This Mandal is one of the oldest Mandal of Mumbai. Lalbaug Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal every year wins several awars for their decoration. Their theme every year included different temples of India. They have made temples like Kedarnath, Somnath, Khandoba Temple of Jhejuri, Temple of South India, etc. This year they are going to make temple of Hanumanji of Sarangpur, Gujrat. This Mandal have the title of “Mumbai Cha Raja” and every year with their new innovations in decoration they justify the title given.
8- Umarkhadi Cha Raja (Umarkhadi):
The welcome and visarjan procession of this mandal is very famous in mumbai. They have laser lights moving around the buildings during welcome and visarjan procession. The laser lights have the name “Umarkhadi Cha Raja” written on them. This is one of the oldest Sarvajanik Mandal and famous one in Dongri Area of Mumbai. The Idol of this mandal is elegant every year and they have many functions in all 10 days of the festival.
9- Andheri Cha Raja (Azad Nagar Road):
Azad Nagar Sarvajanik Utsav Samitee was established way back in the year 1966, 49 years ago, by the blue collared workers of Golden Tobacco Company, Tata Special Steel and Excel Industries Ltd. Once there was a long lasting strike in one of the company where these Mandal’s devotees were working. They urged this Ganesha for favourable outcome of strike. Their wish was fulfilled and as promised, they started immersion of life size idols on “Sankashti Day” which comes 5 days after “Ananta Chaturdashi”. Earlier the life size sculpture of Shri Ganesha was immersed on Anant Chaturdashi day along with the smaller version (Pooja idol). This was only in 1975, when the then Chairman of Samitee Shri Appa Khanvilkar whose wish was fulfilled by this Shri Ganpati, the Ganpati came to be known as “Navasala Pavnara Ganpati” (wish fulfilling Ganesha) who was also later known as”Andheri Cha Raja”(King of Andheri) by the entire Mumbai.
10- Girgaon Cha Raja (Nikadwari Lane, Girgaon):
This Ganesha is famous for being Eco-Friendly and the mandal has also got many awards for it. The idol is made up of pure “Shaadu Maati” or Clay and is very heavy. The size of the idol is about 20 feets and the popularity of this mandal is because of Lezim and Nashik Dhol that they play and dance on during the visarjan procession on Anant Chaturdashi day, i.e the last day of festival. This Mandal has also been awarded Mumbai Cha Raja 2nd Runner Up Title in the year 2011. The idol is beautifully made and has a Krishna statue carved on the Trunk of Lord Ganesha.
11- Mumbai Cha Maharaja (11th Khetwadi):
The Ganpati of this mandal at 11th Khetwadi, Grant Road is called Mumbai Cha Maharaja. The idol here every year is very unique and elegant. The idol is about 20-30 feet tall and is amongst tallest idol in Mumbai City. There are different games and programmes arranged on all 10 days for kids and many other functions throughout the fest.
12- Dongri Cha Raja (Dongri):
The Idol of this Mandal is known as Dongri Cha Raja. Just like Umarkhadi Cha Raja, This mandal too is famous for its Welcome and Visarjan Processions. There are different Bands like DJs and Nashik Dhols during processions. Laser Lights with name “Dongri Cha Raja” Hover over the buildings around the processions. This Mandal was awarded “Mumbai Cha Raja” Title in the year 2013. The Idol here is beautifully decorated with artificial diamonds and is one of the oldest mandal in mumbai. The decoration here is also superb and people from all over Mumbai come here for darshan of this elegant ganesha.
13- Fort Cha Icchapurti Ganesh (Fort, GPO):
This mandal has one of the best decoration in Mumbai. They have various themes every year. The famous themes made by them are Pandharpur Vithoba Temple, Nathdwara Shreenathji Temple, 12 Jyotirlings, Kedarnath Shiv Temple, Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, Different Palaces of Rajasthan, etc. Every year they have such beautiful and different themes. The Ganesha Idol here is beautiful and elegant and same every year. They have won many awards from different organizations every year.
